Pastor Phil’s heart is to see people connected to God and to one another, with a vision to see Southeast Texas transformed by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.
Phil has served as Senior Pastor of The Temple for the past five years. When he arrived, the church was still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Alongside an incredible team, he helped lead The Temple through rebuilding and into a season of growth and renewed ministry.
A native of Kentucky, Phil earned his bachelor’s degree from Berea College and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Seminary. After initially pursuing a career in business and spending time working in the U.S. Senate, Phil answered God’s call to ministry. Since then, he has founded or restarted five churches across Ohio, Colorado, and Texas.
Phil is married to the love of his life, Danna, a regulatory chemist and environmental engineer who also serves as a Bible study teacher and worship leader. Together, they have four children and one grandchild. When they’re not at The Temple, you’ll often find them spending time with family and friends, enjoying the beach or lake, hanging out by the pool, or relaxing at home with their dogs, Zoe and Daisy.
Phil and Danna genuinely love people, and they love calling Southeast Texas home. They are grateful for the opportunity to serve The Temple and be part of what God is doing throughout the community.
